Hi all, I have a 2003 F150 supercrew 4x4 witha 5.4litre motor and auto trans. The service engine soon light came on the other day so I bought a code reader, the codes are PO181 and PO155. The book that came with the reader does not show code PO181 so I don't know what it even is and the book says that PO155 is a O2 sensor heater circuit but does not say which o2 sensor. The truck drives as it always has and the gas milage seems to not have changed at all. Can any body help with these codes as I would like for them to be more specific. I guesss thats what I get for buying a cheap code reader. Thanks in advance!
Bank 2 is the passenger side of the truck and Sensor 1 is the one before the cat. Look for damaged wiring to the O2 sensors on that side of the truck. BTW, are you sure about the P0181 code? That one doesn't make sense on this application.
I am positive on that PO181, it did come up, I reset the computer and so far has not been back. The book with the code reader said bank2 sensor 1 but I did not know which one it was, so is that sensor toast? Thanks for your help!
Bank #2 is the drivers side on Fords, not the passenger side. Replace the upstream O2 sensors on both sides, those should be replaced every 80,000 miles for the best gas mileage, and if an O2 sensor fails, it can damage your vehicles expensive emission components.
