What I noticed with my new toyo tires is that they were wearing the center off sooner than the edges when I had the pressure at 70 PSI. When the tire shop first installed them on my truck they set them all to 60 psi, so I put them back down to 60 and have been running them there ever since.
I think my tires are rated at 106 MPH, so even my truck doesn't cruise that fast and most of the time I stay around 70 MPH. I would like to set them at higher pressure for MPGs and handling, but I always heard that its not needed unless you are loaded, or even if you are to follow the ratings on the vehicle (assuming you have proper OEM replacements) and not the tire.
The dot here will check the pressure in your tires. I know of 1 time a texas DOT used the drivers guage to check his tires. 80 pounds got him a ticket even offering the guage so the officer would not have to walk to his car.
I have never seen them messing with a pu unless it was commercial or overloaded.
Seems like my tires wear better at maximun rate.
