Ya! I think it would retail for somewhere in that $600-$700 range, big savings!

Snap-on tools....hmmmnnn....
I would love to have some, but the price, although I think there is no doubt about their top quality. You're a lucky guy.

Most of my tools are a metric/inch combo of mostly Canadian Tire Professional Series, some Husky, Gray and a set of English tools (British Whitworth size) that are completely different than either Metric or SAE inch sizes (can't remember the exact name) .
I use the Whitworth exclusively on my '67 Matchless motorcycle which was made in England.

I have a lot of snap-on and mac tools, but I make my living with them. They are great tools but also have great support behind them.

my FIL swears by his snap on tools as well. i have a full assortment of Mastercraft Maximum mechanical tools that are good enough for the amount i use them. for work though, i never skimp. always the best.

I use craftsman and westward myself too. I would love to have some mac and snap on stuff, but it doesnt make it worth it for me.

On a side note, I dont really like most snap on combination wrenches. They always seem to be skinny. I like the mac ones that you can grab ahold of and yank on!

Sounds like a sweet purchase though Marlon! I bet those tools sure add up in cost!

Ya, they sure do add up. I have been working on a inventory of my tools for insurance purposes. Sure is takeing a long time to get eveything priced out. So far I'm at $16,000 and not done yet.

Im the oposite of you there preppy, I think the mac wrenches are to clumsy. I really like the mac air tools.

I think one problem of mine, is I have pretty big hands. I find when i yank on snap on wrenches, the sides seem to wanna cut right through my hands!

As for mac air tools, ive only ever compared a older snap on 1/2 inch impact to a new (3 years ago) mac 1/2 inch of my buddies.
The mac impact took lug nuts off of a semi truck that were torqued on at 550lbs! I was amazed! The snap on could only do 300lbs lug nuts on the dayton rims.

I could only imagine spending 16k on tools in my dreams!!

Funny you should mention that. I tried a couple of Craftsman tools about 10-15 years ago and they (grip area for your hands) were not finished as well as I remember the ones made before that. I tried them out (open end wrenches) and the finishing was so rough I could feel them cut into my hands. Didn't get them as a result.

I tried the Canadian Tire Professional and the Husky tools and they didn't cut into my hands, felt good , were well finished and were comfortable for me to work with, so I bought those makes.

Now, Craftsman have a good reputation and I have used Craftsman before, so I am thinking maybe it was just one of those rare batches, that slip by the quality control of any manufacturer.

My dad uses ..... mastercraft or craftsman.. (whatever kind ya get from canadian tire that have the lifetime warranty on them) and they seem to have a pretty nice grip on them.

I even forget what I have for wrenches right now, but they are OK. No lifetime warranty though (least I dont think so) and I wouldnt mind having that!

preppy, I just bought a new mac 1/2' impact and it has 1200ftlbs in reverse for the first few hits the drops to 800ftlbs. They call the first few hits "nut busting torque" It will out do our mac 3/4' impact we have at work.
