It is going to be mostly a mud truck but still weekend driving.

 

Worked great for my truck until the LED that runs the UniLite died.

Looking at over $100 just for that little module.

you would be better off with one of the smaller powermax truck camshafts

--bone stock/stock exhaust would probably benefit more with the crane 500511

--headers, aftermarket intake, 4v carb would probably benefit more with the crane 503901

--your link went to the crane 503941, its just the wrong cam for what your wanting, unless you plan on making changes to the heads/comp ratio and adding more stall/etc etc.

dont be afriad to call comp cams, crane or isky or crower for that matter....they have techs that get paid to do nothing but answer cam questions. you may wanna call someone like reed cams, they could whip up a custom camshaft for you and it shouldnt cost you much more.





check with DUI distributors, they have positive feedback.

then search for the "how to" on building your own electronic ignition system, using the ford duraspark II distributor, gm 4 pin module, ford TFI coil, this setup actually works, and works better than the OE duraspark II dizzy, module, coil. Plus its inexpensive to put together, reman distributor/ new gm module /new tfi coil should be under 100 with new plug wires. Its just not pretty.

 

I do plan on getting a 4bbl and intake, header and exhaust. I also plan to go .030 with porting. I will check on the "how to", I just heard of that recently just haven't checked into it. I am not doing all this right away, I have to finish body work and paint first. After that I will work on the motor, I am just getting prepared for when I do start the build!
