broken down truck :(
i was coming into work tonite and my truck broke.
now that im done with my slight redneck portion, here is what happened:
first my truck:
1999 ranger 2.5 4cyl with a 5spd 36750 miles
only mod is a k&n filter and bosch plat +4 plugs
problem that occured:
i was on the interstate doing about 70 in 5th gear (unloaded, only me and my lunch in the truck). was doing fine. came to my exit, pushed in the clutch. i was going about 50 and came to a point where i needed power, so i put it in 3rd, bring up the rpm a bit tp about 3k(can only go by ear as i dont have a rpm gauge) and come off of the clutch. tried to accelerate, and get a grinding noise from the tranny area

managed to get to the exit and was able to limp up to about 20mph but was unable to maintain speed going uphill (engine was working fine)
it *feels* like the clutch is slipping (been driving a manual for a few years and my first car had a bad one for a while) but im conserned about the grinding noise. i know that its very possible that it is just the clutch, but my old car (1980 mazda 323) didnt grind when the clutch went bad, and neither did my dad's 96 escort
thanks!!!
matt - the concerned/confused ranger owner
only way I would think the clutch could go bad that
fast. how's your hydraulic clutch fluid level(my 84
ranger had a resevoir close to the brake fluid)maybe I'm confusing it with another car though. I've had 25 since I've been driving. Is it
still under warranty?
