Right now I have 315/75/R16 tires on my truck, this morning my right front went flat with a cut in the sidewall. Tire store in my immediate area cannot get one for 3 days (til Monday). Problem is I was leaving tomorrow for home (600 miles from school). My question is what sizes can I safely run on one or both tires in the front (as long as I don't use 4x4). If I can get a 305 or 295 or whatever easier I'll slap it on for the trip and then have all of thanksgiving break (10 days) to get the right size.
do they have a used on that you can buy for cheap in your size? if not throw your spare on and find a used one somewhere else. Most used ones you can get for around $25. Then you will at least have a spare in your size. Good luck!
Yeah I'm up at Michigan Tech, I can get the right size and brand overnighted for $352 (tirerack.com). I would slap on the spare (I think stock is 285) but I haven't even had it out to see if its any good. Also I don't have the correct lug nuts for the spare, the aftermarket rims use the beveled style instead of flat face
if you HAVE to have a smaller size tire on there, like everybody else said.....don't lock your hubs! And I would stop at the first place possible and buy a 315 tire and match it up. 600 miles is wayyyyy too long to drive with mis-matched tires, it will leave you stranded on the side of the road.
The next place that may actually have the right size tire is probably not in the Upper Peninsula (its about 300 miles to the lower and a least a few more to a decent sized town)
well, 521.00 pays to get a tire to you tomorrow. The used tire was only going cost like 30.00.. For a grand total of 551.00 for 1 used tire....sorry man
Do you want me to get a price for a new grabber for you? The place would be in Shelby.

Thanks for lookin it to it for me, Shelby is the opposite side of the state for where I'm headed(SW of Ann Arbor), but thanks for the offer. Im goin to see if I can find two matching smaller tires for the front, if not I managed to find another ride down as far as Lansing, so I'll just leave my truck up here to wait on the tire.
Thanks for all the help guys, I'll let you know how it turns out
EDIT: I think you are talking about a different shelby, but all the same thanks for the offer
