The unions and the pensions plans are hurting the big 3. Unfortunately the only way that is going to get fixed is chapter 11. While I hate to see employees hurt by this the pension plans were unrealistic and now it is difficult for these companies to pay. if they close shop altogether the retirees get nothing so a reorganization and a realistic pension plan is at least something if they go BK.
I'm a lifelong Ford owner but I will not buy another Ford until they fix the union problem. I'm not going to overpay on my next vehicle just so the UAW members can get their outrageous benefits and pay. Sorry, but it is my money.
Here we go ..when the company is in the hole it has to do with what the autoworker is making.....which is a small part of what a car or truck cost to build..
so has anyone ever asked a autoworker if he or she would take a pay cut to help out the company to survive?
no one ever came up to me and asked me.
today the U S government asked the three ceo's if they would and 1 out of 3 said yes..ford's said that he is comfortable where he is ....at 9 million plus a year...now in my books no one is worth that much money..
Ford D1, you are right. They need to trim the fat including the CEO pay and luxurius lifestyle. It was documented in the wall street journal where the issues are. They include Pension, C level pay and union negotiations. Surprisingly the pension was the worst ongoing item. As for the 9 billion, your probably right that no one person is worth that amount of money but the contract for the pensions, unions and the CEO are all solid contracts. File for BK and end this madness.
