I have an 02 f250 and on cold days there is a rattle that comes from the undercarriage and goes away after the vehicle warms up. Anyone know what it might be?
my F150 had the welded 2 piece heat plate around the cataletic (sp) coverter come apart and it did the same thing. Rattle real bad at start and then stop after warning up. I did the cheap fix and wrapped wire around it and tighten the wire and that stopped it until I could get it welded

I have a similiar rattle in my 01f250 that only occurs in cold weather on accel around 2000 rpms. any info would be appreciated
I had a similar noise once, and it turned out to be an exhaust heat shield that got bent and was just barely touching the frame (or something) when it started up cold. And after a minute the converter, pipe Etc got warm and it would move just enough to not touch and it stopped making the noise. Hard find, but Easy fix.

Thanks for the info. I actually took off the inspection plate at the transmission and the noise has stopped. Its hard to believe such a small shield can make so much noise.
