Front lift/Leveling

Can somebody please help me?! I have a 2000 F150 4x4. I just want to take the stock body and lift the front about 1 1/2-2 inches to level it with the rear. Can I do this with just air shocks? I don't have any springs so I can't put spring spacers in. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Pete

With the F150, you have torsion bars. It is possible to tighten them in order to gain some lift in the front end. I don't know if it will be enough or even how much you can go. I, myself, try to stay away from IFS so I'm no expert. But I've read that this really works. The ride will probably be stiffer either way you go. Good luck

I adjusted the torsion bars on my girlfriend's 01 Supercrew 4x4. She bought new 33" Mud Terrains on some 16.5" Welds so she needed some lift up front to clear them. In my opinion, I'd do the adjust myself. Some shops will charge you around $100 to do about 10 minutes of easy work and they'll also want you pay for an alignment (which I think is pretty unnecessary for a 1-2" lift). Like I said, its really easy, only took me about 10 minutes to do the adjust and I got about 1"-1.5" lift in the front. Some people claim that they got up to 2.5" of lift from adjusting the bars. Also, some say that the ride will be stiffer if you raise the torsion bars up, but I didn't notice a difference after I did it. Sorry I don't have any pics, but I will do my best to try and explain how you adjust them. What you want to do to is:

1) Look under your truck and follow the torsion bars towards the center of your truck. You will see them end at a bar that goes from the driver side of the truck to the passenger side. You should also see two bolts facing the ground on this bar. These are waht you need to turn to adjust.

2) Get a socket that fits the bolts and a socket wrench (try to get a larger wrench, it will make it easier to turn. You may also need an extension to give your nuckles some extra clearance).

3) Turn the bolts the way you would to tighten them. MAKE SURE YOU DO THE SAME AMOUNT OF TURNS ON EACH SIDE.

4) You can do a turn or two, see how you like the hight and turn some more if you want to get more lift.

Hope this helps.

i agree my friend has a z71 with 33s on it, he has a 3 inch body but it rubbed in the front so we just tightened those torsion bars and it looks and handles 100 percent better, we also put new shocks on so we couldnt tell much from the stiffness in the front, atleast i thought it rode better, now it does not rub at all in the front, trust me ive gone through all those leveling coil bull***** and it would have been SO MUCH easier if i had torsion bars

Hey Rockinfigz, that is the snow plow package that lifts the front a little. The "X" springs as they are A.K.A. I ordered it from the factory that way. When I was shopping around, I noticed all the SD's with this package sat level in the front. So when it came time to order, I included that. Hope this helps.
