Well I had to take the truck back to that place. Not impressed with what they done. It ran better, but still starts and stalls when sitting for a while, like overnight. They did not charge me and said this was the best they could do without tearing things apart at a great cost. Now it burns up more fuel too.
It seems all they did was set the idle at maxx. The truck just roars. I have since turned it down a quite a few notches twice and it still runs fast. But not like they left it.
I still need to turn it down more.
It is getting hard to find anyplace that works on carburated cars anymore. Like Nathan said to me they only maybe spent 20 minutes on Carburators. The motor mechanics course today are more on the computer stuff and sensors.
Man if you are great with carbs. This would be a niche for you. You be in demand from guys like me that cannot tune them up worth crap.
I think I wille fine now. At least I don't have o keep pumping the gas everytime to start it. Just once and she runs. I just need to get the idle speed down to a decent RPM. and probally the fuel/air mixture screws need to put towards lean mixture more.
The thing I needed most was it to start in the coldweather.
It is very close now to what it should be. Tomorrow morning will tell if I gotit just right when I start it.
I never had a problem setting up my own, although I will admit they were easy carsbs to set. Old 2 barrels and 4 barrel rochesters are a breeze to work on.

My thinking is along the same lines Warren.
Since I have a similar parts truck I bought a cheap/$1,000 but fairly decent 89 Ranger Super Cab for some of my winter driver. Of course at that price it`s bound to have afew minor issues but it`ll run on fumes compared to a full sized 1/2 ton.
A newer fullsize half ton gets pretty good mileage, plus ya get way more of a safer tougher truck!
Regardless, for Glen, since he allready has te truck, getting another wone with efi might end up costing more then just fixing his carbed one, however if looking at a new one, I would go for efi also.
