Blower is Crazy

The blower in my 03 Mountaineer is crazy. If I have it set on the lowest setting it will sparatically blow out a full blast. Sometimes it will stay that way for a split second other times for for ten minutes. Then it will go back to low for a few seconds the back to full. Over and over and over. It has been doing this for about 2 years now. Getting worse over time. Now my wife drives the car. So I am sure you can see why I need to get it fixed.

I have searched the forums and the only thing I see is the blower motor resistor but that usually makes it blow full all them time.

If yours has Dual Automatic Temp Control (DATC) there is no blower motor resistor. Instead it will have a Blower Motor Speed Control module. It's a good bet that's what the culprit is. I'm pretty sure the part number is XL2Z-19E624AA, and I see it can be had for $55.66 from directfordparts.com. Make sure to double check that part number before you order. You might even get one from a salvage yard for cheap. I have no idea what a regular dealer would want for one. Good luck.
