I would buy a the booster to match your pedal bracket...a 77. Don't think you will need a proportioning valve. I didn't change mine. Anybody ever change their valve with the power brake swap?
I am really seriously thinking of doing the Hydroboost Upgrade to my 73 F-250 4x4....Does it cause a problem or are there any mods if I am just running stock 76 Discs up front and stock drums in the rear?? I plan on doing the whole hydroboost, master cylinder, Power steering pump from the superduty...or possibly a Saginaw remote reservoir pump.

There have been a couple threads on running the stupid duty parts and it is what I plan on doing with my 74 crew.
I used a hydroboost off an '88 F-450 diesel. I had to make a bracket and flare a brake line, but the I didn't have to modify the ends on the new hoses and the pump was a direct bolt in. I also made adjustments to the bends in the lines going to/from the hydroboost, which made things a bit cleaner in the engine compartment.
I am currently using the F-450 MC, but it doesn't give me enough pedal travel before I'm hard on the brakes. I might be switching to a '79 F-250 or 350 MC to see how that works out.
I picked up just the hyrdroboost unit from a 2004 Superduty at a U-Pull-It yard...no M/C or anything else for less than 20 bucks!!! I am going to try and use the factory master...It will need a spacer and the rod lengthened is all from the looks of it...besides the firewall side..LOL
under $20 is a STEAL! Was the MC already gone, or did you just not get it? I would try and get the MC, hoses, etc. if at all possible just in case. from what I have seen the stupid duty mc's work fine.
Good read, now is my question to this thread: I too went to junk yard to get brake booster for my 74-f100 manual brake system. Found one & brought it home & found it too rusted to work but it did have the bracket needed to put it on my truck. I too bought a new master cylinder & booster & put the old bracket onto it & mounted it to my firewall. I bolted it to the brake pedal & it all connected fine. What I did fine was that the brake switch is about 1/2" too short now. I lengthened it as far as I could & it still is too short to work right. Is this all due to using my old brake pedal with a booster system now or what? Or should I weld a new stop so the switch will work? Or should I go back & see if the old brake pedal is still at the junk yard?
Thanks
Garry
