Hey Guys, I have a 2005 F350 Powerstroke. It came with a remote starter and up until recently it worked well. I have checked all the wiring and read the manual about 10 times and I still cannot figure out what is going on. If I drive the truck, and it is warm, I can start it up, but if the truck sits and gets cold it will not work. When I lock the doors and hit the start button, the horn beeps twice and the marker lights flash but the vehicle does not start. I also sat in it last night and noticed that when you attempt to start it, it does not turn on the glow plugs. The dash lights flash once and nothing happens.
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o> Does anyone have any ideas? I am going to tear into it again this weekend to see if I can rectify it. I park my car in a nice warm garage and my wife is forced to park her massive truck outside in the cold. I need to rectify the issue fast you know the old saying “happy wife happy life”.
So is the wait to start light coming on? I am not really familiar with the diesel wiring, but I imagine it's similar to gas. There should be power going from the RS to the IGN and Accy wires. Red/lt grn, gray/yellow and red/black, dk. blue/lt. green wires should be powered. You can probably get by without powering the red/blk wire though.
The wires from the RS to those on the column likely have fuses, and I would start checking power there.
I'd bet your not powering all of the wires under the dash. Some ignition must not be getting power and not charging up the glow plug circuit during RS.
I spoke to the ford tech's and they told me that when it beeps twice, it usually indicates the hood sensor is active. They worked on my truck recently and perhaps they did not connect it back correctly. I will check it out and let you know.
It shouldn't start at all by remote if it thinks the hood is open, if it does then you have other problems. Did they work on it and then it not work? What did they do?
OK Success!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

<o></o> It would not start at all: open or closed. It went in for service: the standard Navistar oil leak, and when it came home it would not work. We did not notice until recently because there is no need for it in the warmer temperatures. The fact that it worked intermittently seems to suggest that the level of the ground was more to do with it them the temperature. Our drive has a slight incline: perhaps just enough to prevent it from starting.

<o></o> The issue was with the Hood sensor. I checked it last night and it was functioning but it was not adjusted to the correct attitude. They did some work on my truck recently and they might have accidentally bent it. It seemed to be on the correct angle but it would not work. I bent it, bow down, about 10 degrees and it worked. I need to verify, tonight, that is will still provide the necessary protection: it got to cold last night.
<o></o> Thanks again for the help
