E40D Question, shift slipping
Hey all,
I'm looking at a used 2WD, 1990 7.3, automatic with a Banks Sidewinder. I think I can get it for the value of the turbo kit (and flowmaster exhaust). I haven't driven it yet, but the owner tells me it is starting to slip on the 1-2 shift. It has about 250K kms (150K miles).
On spec, is there any easy check or adjustment to sort out the tranny short of rebuild ?
In other words, how can I check for codes or adjustments. I've never had an E40D.

Sorry, but there are no adjustments on the E4OD like the C6 has. Either it works or it doesn't. Theres probably a slipping clutch in there and it will need to be torn down to be corrected. Considering the age of the transmission, its not really a supprise. The good news is that it is getting cheaper to get replacement parts for the E4OD.
Do you know if the transmission has been modified for the turbocharger and increaced output? I would take if for a drive anyway to see how 1-2 compares to the other shifts.
