Alright, interesting transmission issue. Nothing is broken to my knowledge... yet, however the shift into 3rd outside tow haul mode while lightly on the gas is VERY mushy. Almost feels like it starts to softly engage, changes its mind and lets go, then shifts in. Overdrive does not do this, only 3rd gear. Tow Haul mode makes it better, however its still there.
Can I get a B&M kit to turn the line pressure up or change any of the accumulators/ shift solenoids to make this better? Is my tranny going out?
Just had the fluid and filter changed about 5,000 miles ago.
I was told my truck had a 4R100, might be different? But its got itself a tow haul mode... a nifty little button on end of the shifter that says 'Tow/ Haul' and when you push it I believe it says 'O/D OFF' or something like that.
You say you had the fluid changed a while back? Do you know what fluid they put in there?? IF you do have the Torque Shift and they did NOT use SP fluid, you have a BIG problem.
The good old wikipedia states that in 2004 only the diesels got the 5 speed automatic. I should have the 4r100 4 speed automatic. I usually pay very close attention to my shifts (severe distrust of automatic transmissions) and have never picked up on a 5th gear in there even if its a lockup converter. However this wierd little 2-3 shift could be a 2-4 jump then a lockup converter?
I don't know though... it drives as if it has 3 speeds and a lock up converter as the 4th. But I'm not an auto trans guy so who knows?
