Empty Weight
Where can I find the Empty weight of my 2003 F250 short of taking it to a commercial scale and having it weighed. I have looked at all of my manuals and been all over the ford websites. The GVR is on the door, but not the empty weight. I want to put a camper on this truck and I want to ensure I do not get one that it too heavy.

Sorry, I didn't see this.
It is really the only way to be sure of your weight. Everybody has different options and different gear.

I don't know your location but I usually run to the feed store and use their scales. They are usually free, but I don't think they would charge you more than 2 or 3 dollars. Like danr says, everybody has different options so no 2 trucks will be the same.

Like everybody else has said, take it to the scales. You won't find an empty weight on your truck because they are all outfitted differently. Ford doesn't weigh the trucks as they come off the line and even if they do, they don't stamp it anywhere on the truck that I've found. After you weigh the truck empty, load it up with whatever people and gear you plan on taking with you when you camp and weigh it again. Then look at available campers and their respective weights within your "available" loaded payload. You have to consider passengers, gear, fuel, not to mention the contents you will place in the camper while it's on the truck.

Just use the scales. Curb weight on mine is 6500ish#, I just weighed in yesterday at 7400# with a full tank minus my 100# toolbox, the 100ish#s of crap in in, and the whopping 167# of myself. '07 X-Cab SB 6.0L 4X4.

Load her up with some scrap metal and take it to the scrap yard. Then you get paid for weighing your truck. I think the rear axle on that truck is rated for bout 7000 lbs so I wouldn't worry too much about overloading it with a camper. I throw 2 ton of mink feed in the back of mine and only sinks and inch or two.

Thnx Guys I was afraid I would have to go to a commercial scale. My issue with that is there are none nearby, the area is too urban.
Oh, and in answer to the one question, it is a shortbed with extended cab. The bed is 6'8" (I think) and the camper I am looking at is 2100lbs empty.

You didn't specify engine, drive type.
Too urban? Shouldn't have a problem finding a scale in an urban area. Commercial trucks have to be weighed all the time.
My 02 SC LB PSD 4x4, no tool box is 7400lbs.

What a great forum. You guys are fast. I barely get through my emails and I have 3 more replies.
Drive train- gas 5.4 Auto 4X4. The Dump Scale is a good idea. The closest commercial scale is 1 hr 10 minutes away.
