Clunking noise in front end....help

ok my dad has a 2000 Ford F250 Super Duty. For quite some time now whenever you would turn the truck going slow like in a parking lot you would hear this loud clunking noise. It comes from the drivers side. We replaced the brakes and rotors because they were warped. Now when your slowing down it makes that same noise. Doesn't seem to be the brakes at all because if your going slow and hit the brakes it doesn't do it. Truck has had all ball joints, and shocks replaced. any ideas? i looked through some forums but found about ten different possibilities so i figured i'd post exactly what his truck is doing. thanks for any help

Are the hubs locked either by accident or by mechanical problem? If so you could be hearing a bad u-joint or other front axle issue. How about a bad unit/hub bearing.

i saw on some other threads bout the hub being locked, hafta try that, i know last year he had some problems manually locking or unlocking it, that would probably have something to do with it huh?

Yep, it sure would. Manually lock/unlock a couple of times. Some of us "old school" folk still back up about 10 feet after unlocking before proceeding forward.

i'll try it tomorrow then, thanks anybody else with ideas if that doesn't work?

yeah im still a big fan of backing up to make certain..

i basicly just dont trust anything thats "auto" in a 4WD system.. give me manula hubs and a ACTUAL 4WD shifter anyday.. thats one feature i was my truck had instead of the "pushbuton" 4WD...
