Ok I know this has been talked about to death already, If i just want to block off the egr and keep stock tuning and get the light to shut off does spartan or someone make a stock tune to keep everything working normal closed vs open loop(no change to ECM but idiot light shut off). Its just the manifold sensor reading hot vs cold air and is there a mod to fool the one sensor (think it's the IAT)???? if that was done with the sensor on the intake manifold you wouldn't need the tuner is that correct??
Hell maybe just talking out my third point of contact!!!!!!!!
If you feel like you are ready then pull out the up-pipe and mod it. It's not that difficult, but it does require some welding. Get a 1.5" steel rod and cut it about 1/4" thick. Cut out the scoop and weld in the disc. You can take a chance and see what happens; you may throw a code you may not. The PCM controls the EGR cycling. IIRC the tuners will adjust the parameters for cycling to prevent the EGR from operating while there isn't any flow to prevent the codes or CEL. OR just find a SCT Xcal II on Ebay cheap and get the tunes.
I am waiting for my waranty to expire and look forward to the EGR delete. I have read a lot of posts here on it and it seems like u just have to go for it and then deal with the results. Sometimes u may get a code, sometimes not. Sometimes u may get better performance, sometimes not. Sometimes u gain MPG sometimes u lose. It's all over the map but I am in favor of getting rid of the EGR assembly.
My truck has plenty of engine warranty left (over half mileage wise and 2.5 years time wise) and I didnt bat an eyelash about deleting mine. One less thing to have to deal with the dealer about. And I dont see a good dealer giving any trouble over this mod, I know I as a tech wouldnt care.
