This is my first post on this forum and I am looking for some advice. I have a 2005 Ford Ranger FX4 with the V6 4.0L. I have been wanting to get a cold air intake system for it for some time now. My questions are this: Is the system worth the money, and if so what one do you suggest? I would appreciate any information anyone has. Thanks.
Ford trucks come with cold air intakes from the factory. Other than looks, aftermarket CAI's have little value unless other modifications are performed.jd
Jim and Rock right, I was looking into about the same thing myself, not long ago(except mine's a 07 2.3l). High flow filters don't really help unless, as Rock said, the computer system is modified to accept it. Otherwise, the computer will just compensate for the extra air and all of the work and money you put into the CAI will be in vain.
Nate.
BTW, welcome to the forums, James.
Stay away from K&N, they don't filter well. Go with the airaid quick fit, gibson catback and bama engine programer and you will make a few xtra ponies. The bama programer is the heart of it all. The intake and catback won't do diddely without the programer to adjust the air & fuel mixture to make the combo work together. It's a system not just anyone part for true hp gains. bamachips.com
