I think Sirius 'won' and their channels are being broadcast over XM channels.
the problem is, both companies use different technologies, frequencies, orbital paths etc...
I have Sirius at home due to Dish Network and I listen the Classic Vinyl and Classic Rewind - they have replaced my 'Top Tracks' and 'big Tracks' respectively.
the good news is, the weekend guy for classic rewind drops the f-bomb now and again so you get to police the airwaves for your kids in the car!
I think it is horrible. My radio use to tell me what station I was on, now all I get is the title of the song and artist. I called sirus and they said I have to upgrade my unit to have that feature again.
I've noticed a few changes as well. Haven't decided if I like it or not yet. Seems to be more yakking between songs. The dirty comedy channel XM150 has changed at least for the better, IMO, not quite as many commercials as before.
I have Sirius and have had for over two years and I listen to mostly older rock, pop and country plus Sirius Patriot on 144.
The difference I have noticed mostly is the lower music channels such as the oldies on channel 5 is now the XM designation of 50's on 5, same with the 60's, etc..
This is a good thing in my opinion because Sirius repeated a lot of songs on these two channels as well as on the 70s...and some country channels. I just hope it's not the same now with the merger.
Even so, the money paid for the subscription to Sirius is worth it to me as the local stations in this area have lots of commercials and they DO repeat songs a lot.
Sirius came out the real winner on the merger. Stations have changed some, but not to the extent XM changed. But I am still very happy with Sirius, and have no desire to add any of the available XM packages. I would never return to regular radio with boring DJs. too many ads, and repeating the same songs all the time.
If I am not mistaken, the merger was more of Sirius buying XM not the other way around. So it would only stand to reason that things would be leaning more towards the Sirius side of things.

You might have to let it sit for a few minutes for the radio to reacquire the new programming info.
As for the censoring, I've heard that it's because of an agreement with Sprint (having music streamed to their phones)
