Question Is there a special tool for this?

I am trying to tighten the power steering lines on the steering column from the power-steering pump.....and they are leaking!!
I have line-wrenches but the 5/8 wrench will not work on the rear line!! I wonder if there is a wrench or tool that works better-that I have not tried!!
Thanks........Bill

I thought he was too, but as part of sensitivity training we don't call fingers, toes.

I found a swivel line wrench that might do the job. It is a bear to tighten and I have no patience anymore. Thanks guys and wish I had smaller hands--and bigger feet--haha!!! Bill

You are going to most likely have to replace them anyway so put a pair of visegrips on it and see if it quits leaking. When it doesn't, take them out with the visegrips and put the new ones in with a line wrench.

I'll bet the fittings are faulty....normally not a lot of torque is needed to properly tighten this type of thread. A line wrench is the preferred tool. Try to orient the lines during the new fitting install to ensure you can properly place the line wrench for easy torquing.

Neat trick and it works well without even cleaning the fluid off first. Liquid Teflon you can get it in any plumbing store Or big box stores. It must be teflon based. It will seal most leaks in any environment without having to over tighten them.

I use it all the time on conduit, HVAC piping, Gas piping and by the way on every fluid fitting or plug on my F-250. I don't leak anyplace I put the stuff. It even comes apart easier without falling apart.

I bought some line wrench style crows foot wrenches. They work well because you use a ratchet and extension to turn the wrench.
