big difference

I finally got around to installing my instrument cluster lens (c7tz-10880-b). What a difference! Before, I could hardly see the blinker lights or the odometer. Now, my dash looks almost new. I bought the lenses at the F100 supernationals but didn't get around to installing them until this week. I knew that it would look better but I didn't expect that much. I recommend that you get these as well. I think that they are kind of expensive ($25.00), but it is worth it. Also, you might want to try this. I sprayed some Gunk engine cleaner into my door latch mechanism - handle and all. The theory was that the lubrication had dried up and the engine cleaner would soak into the old grease and soften it making the door latch operate more smoothly and easily. Well, it worked! Door opens easier than ever! Also sprayed the gunk engine cleaner into the window crank and that works better as well. Don't know how long it is going to last....

That's like WD-40 on the glove box latching mechanism. Every Ford I have ever bought had a stuck glove box release button until I lubed em' up and they worked great. Such a no brainer, but sometimes people just don't think.

I never had any issues with the 66s that I have owned, not one. Good thing the water dry product worked well for you.

Yeah it did. Glad you didn't have any issues with your 66, that's swell.

Since the instrument cluster lens (C7TZ-10880-B) has been obsolete for over 25 years, from whom did you buy it from?

Is it an original Ford part or a Dennis Carpenter reproduction?

If you bought it in Knoxvile, I'm going to assume you bought it from Carpenter.

There was a fellow there from MS who had a table full of NOS 1967/72 parts.

It amazed me that ppl walked right by the NOS Western Junior mirrors and red steering wheel he had.

The mirrors finally sold Friday afternoon...$50.00 for the pair, a roaring bargain.

I bought the steering wheel.

Last set of mirrors I got for my '67 was from a member here for $25, that included hardware with plastic gaskets too. Oh, that included shipping to me! They were perfect shape...maybe not 100% resto, but I suppose with some polish they could have been.

My passenger door lock had not been used in such a long time before I bought the truck it was completely frozen. I had to dismantle the tumblers and break them loose. With some lube it works perfect now.

The part is a Dennis Carpenter reproduction. You are correct about the part being obsolete. For years you could not find the cluster lens. It has only been in the last few years that it has been reproduced. I compared the new lens to the old one and could not find any difference. It looked and fit exactly like the old one except that I could actually see through the new one. There were lots of parts available at the f100 nationals...and a few nice looking trucks too! Another big difference I recently did to my truck. I tightened the bolts on the steering rag joint. Somehow they became a bit loose. Now the truck does not wander as it did before.
