hey guys just bought the 6.0 fuel cross over line from guy on ebay, does anyone here have a step by step detailed install with pics to help me, also what size and type of tools do i need to do this job, and how long does it take or should i let my friend who is a diesel mech do it for me for 50.00?
save yourself the grief and let the tech do it for $50....the area is very tight to work in and the job is nothing short of a PITA...I cut up (3) 6mm allen wrenches and a combination wrench to make tools that worked well when I did my RR a month or so ago..
Your tech either has a few tools to make the job easier, or he'll NEVER do this job for 50 bucks again...my money is on the latter...
If I remember right, it took me about 2 hours. The driver side was easy but the passenger side was a real Hilliary Clinton. Do the passenger side first. It is easier with a loose line. I loosened the passenger side turbo up pipe and pushed it back toward the firewall. It has a flex joint that allows for some movement. Don't get real aggressive with trying to move it a lot. That allowed me to get the allen wrench in the block plug to loosen it and then remove it with my fingers.
Pay your buddy $50 and buy $50 in beer. It's still worth it.
I agree! If I could have found someone dumb enough to do mine for $50 bucks.......have at it. That was the problem. Those $50 jobs usually turn into a lot more. That is the reason I did mine myself. Then I knew it was done right and to me that makes all of the difference!
