Heading on a trip

I am heading on a trip and my check engine light came on. I am pretty sure it's the MAF. But the light won't go off (I have completed MANY drive cycles) I don't want to disconnect the battery though. Last time I needed to reset my light I found either here on these forums or else where a fuse that could be removed for 15 minutes and it did indeed reset it. I have searched these forums all morning to no avail. Anyone remember or know which fuse that is?

Idiot light on

why do you think its the MAF? did it throw any codes???

It did throw codes before which led me to MAF, but after a quick check, I think it's the elbow on the PCV, I am going to check that tomorrow night and check back here.

I got all 3 elbows replaced and the hissing is gone and the rough idle is gone. Still haven't found the fuse to pull for check engine. I guess I can wait a few drive cycles and it should go away.

Disconnecting the battery for 10-15 minutes should clear the code.

Agreed, I am just so incredibly lazy when it comes to reprogramming the clock and radio presets

You know it wouldn't cost more than a few extra $ for a company to add a lttle 3V lithium button battery to the the board to keep the volatile memory charged so it would remember stuff. We have this in our calculators (like my TI-89 Titanium, it uses one so you can change it's 4AAA's without losing your settings). We also have it on the motherboards of our computers to keep the BIOS powered, which is what remembers all your settings like memory and processor speed, which drive to check for a boot record, and provides the time and day to your operating system.

aha!

Found it!!

I forgot about my notes section for my Expy's maintenance notebook here is what I have done:

Resetting Check Engine Light

You simplest solution is to pull the KAM fuse for 15 minutes if you don't have a scanner handy to clear the code. For the 98, that will be the 5A fuse in the engine compartment mini-fuse box tucked back in the corner of the firewall and the inner fender. Pulling it instead of the battery negative cable will reset the computer without messing with your clock and radio settings.

Allow the PCM to perform its relearn procedure per your owner's manual after it is reset.
