i was flipping threw the channels on tv and came across a show where they repo cars and i saw a cool attachment flipped out of the back of a ford super duty to tow cars. anyone know what this thing is called and where i could look to price one out.
iv found a few, looks like betteen 2500-4500 for different version not a bad price, mabye something ill be getting in the future, very cool, although the bed mount one is very cool looking the ones that tuck away compleetly under the truck would be more practical. it would be cool if you could have one that hooked into the reciver hitch and had chains that ran to the safty chain hooks for your goose neck hitch for support so it could be completely removed with out a trace.
are you trying to get into repoing cars now? there is great money in it if your good.
im always looking for ways to make money and im freinds with the owners of a couple car dealerships, but it could be multi purpose, not only repo's but broken down cars and whatever else, id realy like to have a roll back but dont have that kinda cash.
i watched some more of the show after i posted about this, its called operation repo, the show itself it a joke but the wheel lift is cool. they repoed 6 cars from a car dealership during bissness hours. if i was doing that i would have come in there late at night when no one was there they can call the cops in the morning to find out where there cars went with no confrontation. let alone an long list of other stupid things they do
I work for a towing company and one of the body shops that we work with has one on their duraturd and i dont really like it. It's kinda slow and a little difficult to hook up to a car. If you want to get into repoing cars the best thing to use is a ramp truck, you can tow anything on a ramp and only certain things with a wrecker. But where ramps are really pricey a wrecker is more plausible, personally i would buy a truck specifically for this that was say an F-350 dually 4wd with an auto loader(which is ecentially what you are talking about just for a full time tow truck).
I watched that same show last night as well. It is interesting, they could get rid of that big woman though.
There is another show similiar to that and they got all the goodies. They have these dollies that you put uner each tire and you can hand push a car out of it's place, even sideways, and rotate it to the truck for hookup. Kinda cool.
I watched that a bit last night too. Pretty fun to watch really. I agree with Neal though. They need to not show the big emo lady on camera! She was N A S T Y.

i know a few ppl in that business and they are getting 800 to 1k per car
damn thats good money im trying to talk the old lady into to it but shes not going for it, she says she dosent want me to end up getting shot or somthing, i keep trying to tell her that that tv show is over dramatized. you would do it in ways to avoid confrontation and if a confrontation would arise you call the cops and just try to keep the people calm till the cops arive and then you continue to hook up the car after the cops are there. **** if i did one repo a week your talking decent money right there let alone anything else that you do.
If there is confliction then you are suposed to leave. My dad did repos for a while. you are supposed to call them in before hand then let them (police) know when you get it. I know a guy that does them now too. I wouldnt mind getting into but cant see spending that much to get started.
