1952 turn signals:

On my 1952 F-1 my turn signals work Ok until I turn the lights on and the flash gets slower then when I put the brakes on they stop flashing at all. This is when I am sitting still.Of coarse when the RPM's are up they seem to work better.Installed new flasher and I am still 6 Volt. What can I check?

Hi Leon,

Those 6 volt systems are pretty weak

Silly questions: are you sure its a 6 volt rated flasher? For Positive ground? Are the light bulbs 6 volt?

J!

Ground, ground, ground. A six volt system will work fine but they need good grounds, and make sure all of the connections are good and clean. If your truck has the original wiring you may need to replace it because the old clothe insulation doesn't hold up and after 50+ years I will guarantee you that it's shot and could be grounding out somewhere. If it's been replaced make sure the wire used is heavy enough for the 6 volt system.
