Hey guys, I got a '94 F150 with premium sound and I am goin to change the stock CD player to an aftermarket one. I have the cable from the amp, and was wondering without takin everything apart to find out where it is, where the amp is? I need to know so I can figure out which speaker wire is which and hopefully NOT have to completely replace all the speaker wires.
I know I can trace it down, but I figure some of you cats have replaced your stereos and would know. Thanks a bunch!!
I've never seen one but have read it should be in the center of the dash, kind of below the radio. If you remove the radio you should be able to see where the harness goes. You shouldn't have to run any new wires or even cut any. There are two factory plugs you'll need to run your aftermarket stereo: one is plugged into the stock CD player, the other is plugged into the amp. The truck's harness is the same reguardless of which radio options it had. For non-premium sound, these two plugs both went to the stereo.
I don't think there is an amp unless you have an Eddie Bauer. In fact I thought it was only EB Broncos that had that factory amp. My truck is an XLT and it had what was said to be premium sound. More like pathetic sound LOL.. It didn't have any factory amp.
I agree with brown 4x4, there is a amp bypass harness like the stereo installation harness that mates up to the factory connectors that you can use to bypass it. A friend of mine did this in a Lincoln.
My '96 has the factory amp and it is not an "Eddy Bauer" edition. I do not know were the factory amp is though. I need to find it so that I can trace my speaker prob.
