My local dealer isn't real organized. I didn't get an invoice or any paper work at all. The way I understand it is they removed the upholstry and welded or bolted a brace somewhere in the back of the seat. When I picked up the truck my seat was way out of adjustment from where I keep it so I assumed they had the seat out, but really not sure. On "My Ford" page it just says UNKNOWN.
When you talk to the dealer about the engine heater make sure you tell them you only need the cord/plug. All engines are shipped with the heating element in them so all you need is the plug. I ran in to the same issue on a previous truck. Luckily the parts manager knew more about it than the service manager and I was out the door for $30.
With that said, I still encourage buying the plug from Parts Guy due to his support/knowledge/help on this website.
I got the letter about the seat and brought it in. It showed that it needed to be done. Not sure if they did anything to the seat. Looks as thougth it needs to be inspected and fixed if there was an issues. Looking at mine Either this dealer is GOOD or my seat didn't need any repairs.
Hey Mr. Parts Guy. I e-mailed your business with the necessary info (I hope) to have you send me a block heater plug.
Just need to know how to get you a CC # and my address to ship it to.
The not done recall issues (other dealer) were completed today by my current dealer. I told them I'll bet you check a bit closer next time you get a vehicle from another dealer to make sure they do what they are supposed to do. He said "Yup".
Opted not to buy the block heater cord/plug from the parts guy. After shipping/handling it would have been about the same price here locally.
I did take the advice about going to the International truck place and got the cord/plug for $30.
I put it in myself this afternoon. What a pain! The block heater pin location was right above the starter and almost thought I would have to remove the starter or wiring. Barely enough room for two fingers to push it on and turn the locking nut. Then zip tied it up back to front.
Now set for winter and cold!
Thanks again for all the great info on this site.
