I belive this would apply for any automatic transmission. If a transmission is slipping, something horribly ...say you press too hard on the gas and it will just slip and your rpms just ride high, then it will grab again...dose this sound like the metal filter and oil has to be changed to fix the problem? because i belive the oil hasnt been changed for a very long time. Will a transmission Flush , taking the filter out and replacing it with a new filter and fluid fix this problem?
It might for a little while, but usually when you get to the point you're describing it's time for a new transmission. And after you get over the sting of paying for the rebuild, maybe you'll change your fluid a little more often.
so im guessing when your driving the transmission to the ground to the point, everytime u drive it say 10 miles it gets hott to the point the engine will run high and the car will slow down too 10 mph because the transmission wont hold...this is tearing it up pretty bad? Everytime u stop to let it cool down you can start driving again. but it happens over and over.
Yeah, you can only get away with that trick a few times before the tranny wises up and then you're walking.
If you decide to fix it, find a GOOD, reputable, honest shop. Do your homework. Don't just drop it off at the nearest aamco or whatever place you find in the yellow pages.
When mine (E4OD) started slipping, and it was slipping pretty bad (RPMs would rev, then it would slam into gear) I replaced the fluid, cleaned all the ****** out... and it worked fine until I blew out the front pump seal several months later. But if you keep on doing what you are describing, you are running your poor tranny into the ground really really fast... I would advise against that sort of thing...
But you know, it could be something like your pump isn't pumping, or the coolant lines or blocked, etc..
I hope I am not intruding but I need to ask a question about transmission lines. I believe mine are clogged. Every time I carry a load the transmission fluid starts to boil out. It has never done this in the past. And the load is the same as before. When I drive the truck with no load it is fine. I drove it yesterday with an emty trailer and it did it again. The weight of the trailer itself caused it to boil out. What would be the best way possible to unclog them?. Temp on my coolant gauge is showing normal. I figure that the line is clogged but do not no what the best route to go would be. Would getting it flushed do any good? Do they flush out the whole system or just the trans? I am thinking of trying to blow the lines out with compressed air but don't know if I would tear something up. How much pressure can these lines take? Any help would be appreciated
I think I mislead you. I do not have temp guage for the trans. I was talking about the water coolant temp. Meaning that I was not running the engine hot. I don't no if it is clogged in the rad or the extra trans cooler. Where do you suggest hooking up the air hoses? How much pressure can I get away with? Thanks for your reply.
