Question Thinking about Buying 2002 B2300

I have a chance to purchase a 2002 B2300 pickup. It has 72,000 miles, is a 5 speed manual, no A/C, 2.3 I4 engine. So I will be buying this truck to commute back and forth to school. I have read that some report getting 28MPG+. So is this a lot of miles on a 2.3, how many miles should I expect to get out of the truck?

You are looking at a truck that is just nicely broken in. It has a lot of good miles left in it. My Ford dealer's mechanics tell me that they don't see the Duratec 4 cylinder engine coming in for repairs. If the truck has had decent maintenance and you continue to maintain it, it should serve you well.

It will be good on gas, my son as a 04 ranger with the duratec 2.3, but his is automatic. He gets 24-25 mpg local driving and 29-30 mpg highway. I do his oil changes for him and I've been putting mobil 1 synthetic oil in for him and that seemed to help his mpg just a tad as well.
