i have a 92 150 xlt and i just replaced the rear shocks factory (110,000 miles on them) and they were in bad shape they still worked the outercases was just rusted and they we very old but anyway i was thinking of replaceing my front and the shocks i put in the rear gave it like mayb an inch lift! so i was just wondering if i put new shocks on the front will it raise it at all?? the shocks i just put on my rear are NAPA gas charged heavey duty! i will get what ever the guy tells me he has instock! im not looking for high proformance or anything just wondering if it woul dlift the front up at all?? thanks
the shocks your talking about will not raise the front. the only reason i can think it raised the back is because the back ones were blown. if you want the front raised for cheap go with 2 inch springs or 2 inch spacers. i have the polyurethane daystar spacers and i have beat my truck up plenty offroad and they have not failed yet. actually i would get the the spacers or springs before you buy stock sized springs because you will prb make this mod in the future and stock sized shocks are too short for 2 inches of lift in the front. trust me i broke my shocks going over a dip in the road. now i have ranchos made for 4 inches of lift and they work great.
Think about this - even with 'heavy duty' gas shocks, you can still push them together, or put one end on the floor and compress it, and you're a total of how many pounds? If it can't hold up less than your total weight, how do you think it's going to add lift to the front of a vehicle? It's not going to. The 'gas charge' is for responsiveness, not for lift.
hey gamma chill out!! i was just asking!! dont got to be mr tough know it all!! i didnt say the gas charged were the reason fo rth elift in the back i was just telling you what kind i had!! casue for peolpe who could actually know something and give usefull info they might wann aknow that! but since you know basicly.....nothing but common sense you were no help but a good laugh tha tyou actually thought i didnt know that!! thanks!
Yeah, i'm alil confused on that one too, he didnt say anything but helpful information, and get you to think outside of the "box".

That's it for mods now, saving for a Stang. Check out my Gallery for a look-see.
only shocks i know of that give you lift are air shocks (bad idea)
putting new shocks in your front will do nothing except improve the dampening of the front suspension
