Paul, Pete doesn't hang out here any longer, he is playing with some old war birds now that is keeping him occupied.

Maybe you can post a little more info as to why you are wanting to make degree changes.

Not sure I completely understand the question, so here's a shot in the dark. We are talking about pinion angle I assume.

If the ride height is not changing, then you want to duplicate the pinion angle of the '78 rear end. It's likely the '64 is probably close to that of the '78, but go with the angle the '78 had.

tks pro stock but heres the thing i went to answer the pnone and a guy that works for me cut off the saddles and ground off all the welds thinking he was helping( on both axles} god only knows why ??? you know its nice to have help you didnt ask for huh!!!so where to start is the problem i have shims to change the angle but dont want to have to use more then 1 or 2 on the semi truck we work on the suggested driveshaft angle is 5to six degrees from pinion yolk to trans or carrier beering but not sure on a pick up i guess i could just tack the spring pads and wait till i get the drivetrain in place and then cut the welds and adjust the pinion anglebut i didnt want to cut or weld on it once tne chassis was painted tks for your help paul

That sucks.
From what I understand(and this be completely wrong), you want the pinion centerline to be parrallel with the tranny output shaft centerline. Erring toward having the pinion nose low so as to compensate for some axle wrap on acceleration is desired. How much? Dunno, I guess that's where the shims come into play.
