cps could cause noises? im probably gonna let the instructor drive it tomorrow and let him tell me what he thinks i just hope it aint injectors cause i cant afford um right now for sure. my only option would be to rebuild um
if its and injector problem, there probably not all bad!And i would stay away from the remans!jmo
u could remove one valve cover at a time, then start the truck and remove the electrical connection one at a time at each injector, and if the one you removed made the truck quite.then u may have found the problem! Its not a bad idea thats how i found what injector was bad on my truck!
yea ever since starting with that motorcraft oil... it aint run worth a crap... atleast with the delo its not knocking!
IS it knocking more on the drivers side or the passengers side. It could be #8 injector not getting enough fuel. The sound would go away when you have the tuner because your putting more fuel in. I would try the CPS. Have you noticed the engine running differently or is just a sound change?
Any chance of this being related to winter blend fuel?
My truck is night and day when they switch.
Summer time=purrs like a kitten
winter time=clack clack clack
When you had the predator in, did you run the crap out of the truck? I'm wondering if maybe you need to re-torque the injectors? Start small man, these trucks are tough. Dont go any furthur that necessary.
im gonna do a black cps and new fuel filter today... I didn't run the crap out of the truck with the diablo. this noise started before winter fuel got here. it used to really knock and i changed the oil and it stopped. i also added the hpx and it helped a little. its still sounding like a constant clattering it wont do it in park while your revving its only moving down the road and responds as i push the go pedal so im just gonna keep checkin things off i guess
What about a cracked flexplate? I'm not sure if this is a problem in the Ford's or not, but the Dodge Cummins are notorious for cracked flexplates that makes it sound like the engine is coming apart. Just a thought????
good idea scott... that would be one of my last things to look at... I got my fuel filter but the cps was 112 and wasnt black.. it was a IH but it was grey/black so i didnt know if it was the right one.. didnt have time to do the fuel filter i was tied up with a cummapart all day
well put in a new fuel filter in today and its helped most of the racket! heck for 18 bucks i may do a fuel filter every oil change and make it a even 100.00 service ha ha anybody know bout that cps? the black/grey one good or no it is a IH
Got this part no# from F-350 Chris off his thread, he did some research on the two,IN black CPS part #1825899c93 or the old black CPS part #1821720C99. I got the gray in mine and i,m getting a black one to switch out. Gray for the glovebox.
