Front end squeaks whenever I turn wheel or go over bumps...possible ball joint replacement needed? Anyone know how much front end ball joint replacement costs?
My 97 F-150 4X4 has been squeaking for a few months.
I pay to have the oil changed and lube. Do you suppose they arent oiling the Squeaky joints.
Maybe I need to get a Squirt Can of Synthetic the way they used to do it before the front ends were being made out of synthetic rubber.
I have a 1998 F150, 4x4. Mine made noises like you say about a year ago; I changed my lower ball joints and upper A-arm assemblies. That fixed all my noise problems. Doing it yourself with the press and time isn't too bad, advice to you is to loosen your torsion bars as loose as you can. I tried to put it all back together but I had mine as tight as posible for lift. So if you do it yourself, definately loosen them (Adjust them the same as they were when your done) And like Bobby82490 said, the originals dont have a fitting, they were "Lubed For Life" ball joints. You can get new joints with the fittings from Advance Auto / Auto Zone retailers.

You can stop this go get the needle that goes on the end of a greese gun from any parts store should carry it.
and stick it in the boots for the ball joints and grease them they are dry and not neccacarrily shot i have this same problem every couple of months kinda a good reminder to keep them greesed lol
but it is dry balljoints
I tried the grease needle, works for a few days and back to squeaking...replacement lowers are 15 bux for joints with a fitting, upper control are...50-80 bux..each
if the lube came out, then they are bad. dont try to use the needle, just install new joints. if you check then "dry" joints, i bet they have excessive movement.
Hmmm, all bad news! I'll have to look when the weather warms up and dries out a little bit.
Right now we are about to re-hydrate the area for a few days.
