I believe the 05 had CAN, so it wouldn't be a plug and play. Some CAN systems don't even have a switched power, they use the data bus to turn on/off. It should be doable, but not easily.

Controller Area Network. It's a fancy interface between the cluster, radio and several computers. It uses a data line to transmit information rather than voltage, it's a great idea and works well, but makes installations a little more difficult.
Did you use a CAN interface on your new radio or was it CAN ready?

Based on what you said, I believe it is a CAN interface. Thanks, I will try to put it in the 01 Super Duty, but if I get stump along the installation, I will just scratch the idea.
I've swapped a lot of super duty stereos from one to another, mixing up years from '01-'04 with no problems other than the excursion w/ dvd option needing a dvd capable 6 disc unit.
Finally got around to trying to install the 05 Factory 6 CD changer to an 01 F-250 Super Duty. It does not fit. The 6 CD changer is too big in the rear to fit in the housing. Also the the wires are completely different. I think it will only fit 05-07. Anyone interested in buying it?
