just picked up a 97 exp, w/ the 4.6, it has a CEL on and the previous owner had the codes scanned and i think it was just 1 o2 sensor in the downstream i think that was bad he said, truck runs fine but he gave me 3 new bosch o2's with it, 2 are part # 15717 & 1 is # 15716 , how many 02's are on the 4.6 total?? i have the special socket also , just wandering how to tell the diff on the part#'s , since 2 are the same want to put the rite 02's in the rite place
rite, he said only 1 was bad from the code he got, but since he gave me 3 i figured mite as well change them while im under there unless there a PITA to change all of them . ill prolly run it up to autozone and have the code read again so i know exactly which one is coming up bad
well its the upstream driver and down stream pass, so far the drivers side is a PITA, any tips on removing this thing?? ive removed the exhaust heat shield and i have the special socket but not much luck on cracking it loose, even sprayed it down with wd40
Sometimes if you run the engine for a minute and warm the exhaust pipe, the threaded hole will expand enough so the O2 sensor will come out. Just don't let it run too long or it will be too hot to work on.
