When I went through my roll pin shearing episode my Ford dealer had to order me the spring pin.
How many did you have to buy, one or five?
If the dealer doesn't carry it, SOP on special order parts that come in a package of five (or whatever), is the buyer has to buy all of them because once one is sold, the remainder of the parts cannot be returned to Ford.
Or in this case, since dealer "net" is less than 5 bucks for all five, the parts can't be returned, period.
My guess is, if you only bought one, and the dealer doesn't stock it, the dealer bought the pin from another dealer, then sold it to you.
