Replacing a steering column

i have a 97 ford f-150 4x4. Can anyone tell me where i can find information on how to change out the steering column?

This is from my 2002 Service manual CD but it should be similar. Sorry but, I haven't been successful in bringing the line drawings into a post.

Steering Column

Special Service Tool(s)

Remover, Differential Bearing
205-116 (T77F-4220-B1)

Removal and Installation
All vehicles
1. Turn the steering wheel to the straight-ahead position and turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.

2. Disconnect the battery ground cable (14301) and wait at least one minute to allow the depletion of the restraint system backup power supply. For additional information, refer to «Section 414-01».
3. WARNING:
To reduce the risk of serious personal injury, read and follow all warnings, cautions and notes in the deactivation procedure.

Deactivate the supplemental restraint system (SRS). For additional information, refer to «Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Deactivation and Reactivation» in this section.

4. WARNING:
To reduce the risk of serious personal injury, read and follow all warnings, cautions, notes and instructions in the clockspring removal and installation procedure.

Remove the clockspring (14A664). For additional information, refer to «Section 501-20B».

5. Remove the multi-function switch (13K359).

5a Remove the screws.

5b Disconnect the electrical connector.

5c Remove the multi-function switch.

6. Remove the nuts and the steering column cover reinforcement.
7. Remove the bolt and disconnect the ignition switch electrical connector.
Vehicles with automatic transmission
8. Remove the transmission range indicator from the steering column (3C529).

9. Disconnect the shift cable from the steering column.

9a Disconnect the shift cable from the steering column shift tube lever.

9b Disconnect the shift cable from the steering column bracket.

All vehicles
10. Remove the steering column shaft bolt. * Discard the bolt. *

11. Remove the nuts and the steering column.
12. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
13. WARNING:
To reduce the risk of serious personal injury, read and follow all warnings, cautions and notes in the reactivation procedure.

Reactivate the supplemental restraint system (SRS). For additional information, refer to «Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Deactivation and Reactivation» in this section.
