Wheel cleaners
I have a 2002 F-150 and wife has a 2002 Escape, both with cast aluminum wheels. Both vehicles have shown substantial brake dust on the wheels. I've looked at at least 8 different brands of wheel cleaners on the market and I'm still confused as to what is safe for these wheels yet does a decent job of cleaning the brake dust off the wheels. Some have warnings about dulling the finish of the wheels, some have acids in them, many claim they are recommended by the manufacturers yet have warnings about damage!
Anyone have good luck with a particular brand of wheel cleaner? I've looked at Armor-All, Castrol, Turtle Wax, Eagle-1, Muguire's, etc. Thanks.

Soap and water. Best thing to use, it's not harsh on the wheels. I use a washcloth on wheels to get all the brake dust out. A sponge works well too. Also, stay away from "soft wheel brushes", they can scratch the surface of the wheel. There's a metal core in them.

i use soap, water and a soft clean terry cloth to keep my stonecrushers clean, and never get a haevy degreaser like castrol super clean on the finish, it destroys the shine, same with tire shine like armor all...dulls the finish. its hard to polish out too
