Hello, I visiting up from the 83-94 IDI pre powestroke forum. Anyway, My uncles got an 06 F250 w/6.0 and he says If it builds around 10lbs of boost then let off, sometimes it makes a squeeling sound like the turbo shaft is crashing in the bearings/bushings or whatever. He says it only does it when the turbo slows down like when you let off the pedal. He took it too the dealer ship and they said it was the belt and tensioner. They replaced that and the alternator under warrenty and it still does it.
Yall have any Ideas. I don;t think the VGT action would cause this or even the egr system. Thanks
It doesn't exactly make the sound you are describing but our turbos don't have a wastegate so when you let off under boost the air stuck in there gets pushed back through the intake. It is called a turbo fart. He might be desribing it wrong or it is in no way related to his problem. Get the tech to ride out with him so he can hear it.

Not much help, but where are you from? I saw a truck like yours today with the same of similar paint on it. Did a double take when I saw taht it was a crew cab and a extended cab.
06silvercrew, Im out of guymon, OK. (in the panhandle) So unless you have been way out here in the desert, that must be my twin out there. I wonder how many others there are out there. Just wish it was 4X4.
liv, As for parking, Its not too bad, since its my daily driver, you kinda get used to it.
Anyway, A turbo fart ehh. Ill Add that to my vocabulary. Never heard of it let along had that happen. I will have to go ride with him to see whats up with it cause I haven't even heard the noise myself yet. he's 270 miles from me. he just gave me a call and asked if I knew. I know a few dealerships don't have mechanics that fully understand or are trained and/or lack experience well on these newer diesels. I have herd of a few dealers actually declining to work on them. Just curius but is the 6.0 powerstroke a VT365, and also a twin to the smaller vt275 v6 twin turbo? I have been to a few classes on these for ups, but I don't remember discussing this issue. Just the other more common problems like the head gaskits, egr cooler, HP oil pump, ect...... I hope it is the same, atleast Ill be familer with the engine. Great engine though.
Any more Ideas floating around out there. How noticable is this "fart". Is it like a relaxed low rumbler or a tensed up screemer. Thanks.

The VT365 sounds right for some reason, but I'm not positive on that.
I would describe it as more of a low rumble far from a loud scream.
Good luck and there should be some more guys to throw you some ideas before you go out to see him.
Yes, the 6.0 is the International VT365.
The turbo fart sounds more like a chuff chuff chuff (with a bit of cough thrown in). The way you are describing a screaming sound sounds like belt tensioner bearing or maybe even alternator or a/c compressor to me. Course I have never had any of the problems so I wouldn't really know. Scream just says bearing to me, check shaft play on each with the belt off and see what you can find out.
I am showing your truck pick to my bro, he builds and he is working on assembling parts to stretch a crew just like that, cept think he will go singles and 4*4 for our variable western weather.
turbo fart....... YouTube - 6.0L Powerstroke SCT Tuned "Turbo Fart" check youtube
yes the vt365 is close to the same a few things are different, like we have a p/s pump and lift pump, not one as one unit. the programing is also ford's and not the same on the I/H
The VT275 is a VT365 with 2 tubos and 2 less cyclinders. thats all. most of the parts are even the same. O ya and what a dog of an engine that pos is.
