it has 135,000 miles on it and I paid 7200 for the truck.
Kind of sounds like the police should be kicking your door down for grand theft auto. That's a great deal. You might need to consider rebuilding the engine in another 300,000 - 400,000 miles, but until then, I say enjoy.
Since you live up North, one thing I would suggest is crawling under the truck and inspecting your oil pan really close. You need to remove the engine to change the oil pan, so if there's any signs of rust, it's better to act now and treat the rust, than it is to pull the motor to change the pan. There's a product called Por-15 that does wonders for stopping the rust and keeping your pan in good shape.
Well it has a front shock that appears to be out on it and the steering arm had some slack in it. I put a new ball end in and fixed that. It also had a bad alternator in it when i got it. Other than that the body is in exelent condition and the interior is in exelent condition.
The one problem I am still having is that the control on the heater air control that changes from vent to defrost somtimes doesnt change when I change it. Any clue to what could be the problem?
Well for starters I am a dairy farmer in souther Michigan near Hillsdale south of Jackson. We milk 50 cows and farm about 400 acres. I decided to go with the diesel because I needed somthing to pull cattle trailers and such. The first week I got it I had to pull a combine from the field down to the shop due to transmision problems. I was throuroughly impressed with the power that the truck showed.
I was also wondering if I got a good deal on the truck.

Thanks for the great advise I look forward to working with you guys.
Small world, I had a cottage in Hillsdale on Bear lake for 20 years and I do some hunting in Jackson.
If there is anything I can help you with, Let me know and I'll be glad to help. I'm only 1-1/2 hours away.

Check for a vacuum leak at the front hubs. The defrost is a pretty good clue about that.
Check your vac hoses going to the front hub area that is activated by the esof (electronic shift on the fly) IIRC. Mine were in bad shape when I got the truck. There is also a vac pump located on the passenger side wheel well in the engine compartment that I had to replace. It is a common problem with these trucks it appears.
Sounds like you stole the truck at that price. I paid 13k for my 00 F250 CC 4x4 a little over a year ago and thought I got a pretty good deal.
Welcome to FTE. This is where I have learned everything about repairs and mods on my truck. These folks have guided me in the right direction and answered every question I have had. Everyone is like family and very respectful. If your not careful you will be spending $$ and liking it. I am a real tight @$$ and I have truly enjoyed every penny I have spent on my truck.
I would change all fluids if you haven't already, change out the air filter to the 6637, napa or fleet filter has them. Gauges are a must with a chip. Sounds like you got one hell of a deal, how is the shape of the truck and if you have pics please post, we love pics People here are a family, post any question you have and if we know the answer, its a sure bet you will too!
Welcome zangledworf. As the others have told you, you got a GREAT deal on your truck. Heck even if you had to spend a couple thousand on it to get reliable you still would have gotten a great deal. I have a 2003 7.3 and have spent the past 5 years here learning from all the great folks. Dont worry about the stupid questions I have already asked most of them, and as they say the only stuipid question is the one you dont ask.
