Reading this thread reminds me of an incident many years ago when some city folks moved in to a farm down the road. The guy asked his young teenaged son to make sure their old Massy-Harris tractor was full of oil befor he used it. The kid opened the filler cap, looked in and, not seeing any oil, kept adding till it was full. They called me because the tractor wouldn't start.

Another thing I've seen too much oil do is blow past otherwise good seals. My ex-wife had a POS Volvo that she religiously put a new quart of oil in every time she filled up so that, in her exact words "I don't have to change it." Luckily this had only been going on for about a month when i found out, thus 3 quarts overfilled. The oil was actually running out of the rear main when started at this point. (This is the point I found out something was wrong by the puddle in my driveway) anways, I'm rambling now. How much oil did you go over?
maybe half a quart, I drained a little out but it takes so long without actually taking out the plug it just drips real slow. It has'nt caused any problems though so I think it will be ok.
