Best cables/chains for the snow?

Best cables/chains for the snow?
What cables would you guys recommend I get for my '03 Expedition for the mountians this winter? I've NEVER in all my years needed them...but here in California we have to have them in the truck should they be required. So brand/model would you recommend I get? Thanks

First thing to find out is if there are any state specifications that the chains/cable have to meet. For example, the chains might have to be a minimum gauge and if the ones you buy don't meet the specification, it could be a ticketable offense.

According to California law as explained in the blue section at the first link I posted, it is legal to use cable type chains, but if the local conditions are severe enough you can be restricted from driving with them. This condition does not apply to non-cable type chains. So based on that alone I would go with the straight chain setup.
