well without a management Box...MSD or the like....Depending on where you live altitude and gas wise.... I would set it at the temps and conditions you mostly run at..weather wise... Bump the timing up tell your on the verge of pinging slowly...and back it off 2* and go!!

There's to many variables to say whats good for one guy is good for another guy! JMO..

Why dont you try about 154FT ( Salem, Oregon - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia ) . As I said......Use a colder plug does help and you are able to advance it a little more! I live @ 4,200 FT (High Desert But I have gone to Woodburn Drag Strip (between Salem & Portland) several times and my Dad lives near Salem. A few guys off Fordfe.com Have seen my truck in person and can Voutch for that. Also went to Medford a few times to the Drag strip with it.

Including my trip to Texas and back to Oregon too. Made a trip up to Washington as well to meet up with the Fordfe.com Guys. Ran fine with no issues. All in the set-up. Not for everyone........JMHO

For Christ's sake, Salem is on the other side of the mountains. I raced at Woodburn so long ago than is was not only a different century, but a life time ago as I haven't lived in Oregon since the early 1970s.

Hey Wes long time no talk. How's things? I read your update on the PM427 on net54. I hope your Aunt and Uncle are doing ok. I know you guys put a lotta heart into that build. Hope you can finish it up and get it in the Mach1.

Are you close to Salem Oregon? I was reading in the Jan 09 Hot Rod about the Salem Speed Shop some guy owns there. Lotsa cool old stuff he has over there and he's the original owner. His name is Glenn but forget his last name? Left the mag at work. Just wondering if you ever poked around over there? Looks like a neat old place with lots of flathead and old Ardun stuff.

Glad to see ya back online again!

G.

THANKS G!!!

The sad thing is I lost all my pix by hitting the wrong button late last night. I just got my new PC up and running. I built the thing myself. Imagine that!?LOL

I basically grow up in Salem. A Grad from North Salem High.LOL I still have a few friends up there. I still poke around up there from time to time. I know the Speed Shop that you are talking about. I haven't step foot in their but maybe I should LOL.

As for the Poor Man's 427 will be a go its just a matter of when!? Time hasn't been nice to me or the money LOL. Also depends if my wife can keep her job @ the mill. Talks of shutting down until the economy turns around. NO COOL! Lot of stress theses days.

On a positive note. I'm online again and missed everyone on the forums. Amazing how many new faces I've seen since Aug!

Thanks G and take care!!!!! Party on

Well Wes,

You and Unc.. Can always ship me the PM427 and the Stang..and I'll stuff it in and do what fab work thats needed !! But the catch is ...I'll have to test drive it at the track for say a year to make sure I have all the bugs worked out !

Look on the bright side of that...Most of my Local Tracks are all 1/8 mile unless I make a 150 mile trip to either VIR in Richmond or Go South to N.C..... and the 1/8 mile will be easier on your parts !! LOL.... Such a Deal Wes !! LOL

Well Wes, I was just trying to help out a fellow FE brother !! I try my best! LOL... Even being a USAF Vet, I dont fly anymore... I have a couple of good friends that are Commercial Pilots that can drink me under the table and I know there's more out there like them !! LOL...

But the wife and I have plans on a road trip to SoCal come Aug? we hope ! and I have plans to make my FE Brothren rounds if I can.. and get some track time in out there with the Club I have belonged to since 1971..The BrotherHood of Street Racers!

But we'll see where the gas prices go from here.. and "IF" were up too spending a month on the road....It'll be alot different this time..as I sold our RV... So we'll take the wifes GA..and the your but gets sore in those contoured Buckets after a few hours of driving...a road car its not !! LOL..But she likes it, and thats what counts!

But the main reason for the trip was to see my Mom...She's getting long in the tooth now at 76 in Jan....So it'll probably be the last time we see her.. But I have had so many friends that I have met on and offline that live out west that have come forward to offer up the race cars for me to drive..I cant possibly get around to them all.. But it was nice of them to offer !

But one of the Guys in the club that I have known for many years..He and his son just built a Bantom with a blown 605" A460 block... That were supposed to take out to Irwindale 1/8 so I can get some seat time at T&T night..and then we'll take it the next Sat night to LA Dragway for some 1/4 mile runs...

We dont know as of yet...How there going to be with 2 un-licensed driver's ? Or if they will look in the books and allow me to run on My license from back in the late 70's when I ran my altered? Or we may have to go thru all the BS again with 2 100' pass's and 2 330' pass's and 2 660' pass's and then 2 full pass's without hitting anything and "Not" going over the line ! LOL..and then finding 2 other Licensed drivers to sign us off? It could be more hasstle than its worth for me..Because I wont be using it when I get back home...LOL

Damn didnt meen to write a book here !
