Last night i was reading this months 4wheeler mag and came across an article about retread tires. I checked the web site and they seem to be kinda reasonable on the price. what do you guys think? Check out the web site it is treadwright.com.
iv run them before and was happy with them, i plan on getting a set for my toyota. only problem i ever had is i got one with a sidewall defect called them and they sent me another one
I knew a guy that bought a set from them for his trail truck that liked them.
IMO I did not see any load ranges on their site so it would be very questionable for the truck.I drive too many miles most of the time loaded to go that route.Only time I would use retreads is if I went with 19.5 wheels from Rickson's
i dident buy them for my ford becouse i wanted a pretty mild tire, i think the load ranges come in more for sidewalls than the tread surface, if you call them im sure they will help you out.
as far as tread ware the ones iv goten where an softer rubber compound than an highway tire so they wore a little faster but not uncommon tread wear for an offroad tire
I have had too many of them throw the tread on big trucks. I will not run them anymore. yes they will replace a defective casing but won't replace the fender it takes out when it throws the tread. jmho

I saw this article in Four Wheel and Offroad. I will be looking at their site to see how their prices and specs compare to the other brands of tire I've run.

x3 The only place retreads belong is on a trailer Imo too many bad experiences with them on big trucks
Ditto on the "Been there, done, wasn't fun" thing. Happened twice with retreads. First time was the left rear on the interstate...no big deal. Second time was the right front on the interstate...BIG freaking deal. Personally, I won't use them.

Yup...steer tires blowing are not fun.....few yrs ago about 1 am blew a drivers side going down a grade in WV.....through the ditch and the tractor ended up in the fast lane of oncoming cars,I was surprised I did not roll her with 38k in the trailer
Tell you the truth I never even heard of retread tires for regular vehicles I thought that was just a big truck thing all the loggers around here use them as trailer tires some guys use them on there drives but never on the front that is actually Illegal and for good reason
Here in minnesota the only place tthat can't run a retread is on the front of a bus. I think that retreads are fine I've run alot even running them on the steer axle. The biggest thing that you have to do is to check the air pressure just like if you run virgins. If you look at the "caps" laying on the side fo the road most of them have parts of the sidewall and the wire sticking out. When you see that it is not the that the cap failed and came off it is that the tire was run low on air and over heated and then failed.
