My buddy has a 97 f-350,7.3,auto,and is looking for some cheap mods.(this is were I busted out laughing).I told him I would ask you guys,I am in the 99 to 03 fourm, and I can use some of my mods but he is looking for a little more HP.So I ask you guys for some help.
We are doing the lookover,ck. the uppipes, clamps,do a good look over for any HP robers.
what about a boost fooler? I have one on mine, does it work on this year?
6637 air filter, 10K mod on ICP, ditch the kitty add a 3" down pipe. These are a few of the cheapest u can do and really notice a difference also shim the FPR.
Thanks guys we did the 10k and are working on the 6637.
I ask him about the down pipe and he said there was not enough room?
And I shimed my fuel return,so I don't get the wrong line on the fuel bowl, witch one is it on these trks.
What about any in fuel tank mods? You guys have alot better fuel set up than my 01.and I didn't know if you had to get rid of the mixer inside of the fuel tank.
The down pipe is real tight but it does fit in there, you have to bend or cut the pinch weld on the firewall to get it to fit properly. And as far as fuel tank mods the only one that i have heard of is moding it so that you can fuel up faster at the pump. Check the schrader valve on the fpr, i think that it will be around 40 psi. Then there is a brass bolt above that, take that out being careful not to lose the spring and slide inside. Once you have that out take a BB from a bb gun and put that inside the hole that the spring sits in. Reinsert the spring and reasemble. Then check the pressure again, i think that its not supposed to be more than 75 psi. Another cheap one is the hot foot mod, I havent done this one but just search it and you should be able to pull up a good write up.
Oh ya and a boost fooler isnt needed on these trucks, the pcm doesnt defuel like on the newer 7.3's

Biggest bang for the buck (for me) was 6637, downpipe and especially cat delete, as mine was really clogged up .. look out now as they can hear me coming. Also no one mentioned unplugging the EBPV connector at base of the turbo.
Biggest PIA for me was removing the cat .. pretty much beat it to death, poor kitty, to get it off.
