late 80'sWindsheild (Bucks)
I don't know if the windsheild fits the earlier 80's ford trucks. But anyone needing a windsheild Heres your chance to get a cheap replacement for $45.00
They had a late 90's mustang that had rolled out there also. It was one of the sportier model with the spoilers and such. No motor in it. Trans still there. So anyone needing parts for one of these. The body was pretty much toast as the spoiler.
They has a 63 Failane 4dr. It looked great from back aways. But it was rusted. Still lots of nice chrome peices on it.
Sadly there was a rust free 8ft box on a 88 ford truck. They damged the right a bit putting it on the stands and the left side was all wavy down it. Too bad. They screwed the box up. Someone could of got a good box. You could go with a cordless sawsall and cut out replacement panels.
I was there for parts for my wifes Escort. Came home with a good grill for my 85. for $20.00. Oh I got what I needed for the Escort too.
I would love that winshield, but I was told that if they get stonechips in them, the chances are high that they will break when you try to take them out....
Anyone have any knowledge of that??
Its just amatter of having a very sharp knife to cut the sealant from outside and from the inside. Too many peoiple cut and try and pry at the same time causing pressure and then you will get a crack.
I cut the length and corners along the top first. Once I have room for thin slivers of wood.I put them in to help keep the sealant that is cut from readhereing. I then work my way down the sides and bottom corners. This is the tricky areas. It just takes patience.
I also cut along the bottom so the glass can start to to be pulled forward gently. Do not force or you may crack. EVerytime I get the glass to lift forward away from the car. I always try to put something in that will hold the glass away from frame. This then lets me cut where the sealant is still sticky at the pointsof sealant separating. I just take my time andusually successful.
I done this with pocket knives.
The really best way is with piano wire. You get a cut through the sealant at the top of glass and fish the wire through. Have 2 sticks wrapped around the wire . One stick on the inside and the otheron the outside. You then saw back and forthandthe heat from the friction melys the sealant as it cuts. It is really slick. It works best with 2 people. One inside one out.
One problem is the wire gets hot and breaks also. Then you have to fish it through again and wrap aroundthe stick. This makes such nic neat cuts of the sealant and working around the corners are easier.
The truck I saw there was a light brown saddle color. It is in the row nearest vehicles stacked for crushing.
That would be nice if it worked, would save me around 300 bucks for a new one!
I don`t care for Bucks since their business is to crush vehicles, what ever parts they sell is just afew extra $$$$ for them.
Also they will not sell you any vehicle from their wrecking yard, some are fairly desirable and are in decent shape.

Since they`re in too big a hurry to crush vehicles the old ones aren`t around long.
Usually there`s too many idiots ruining parts I need when they`re removing what they`re after.
I have a buddy that worked in glass before, but hes a rigger now, doesnt do that stuff anymore.

Better off to get the glue in W/S installed, after buying the kit it just ain`t worth the hassle and if you break it you go buy another one.........
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
The time i called around before that, was about 2 years prior, and the prices seemed to have been the same then too.
I just know im gonna get pulled over with it one time, and they are gonna make me change the windshield! Its pretty bad though. The one in my shortbox has a small fixed chip in it, so now, i would love to use that one.
When you do it yourself. The new sealant kit can cost just as much as having a glass shop install it. They charge about $100 to install if you provide the windsheild. That's why I just spent the extra and got anew one then.
