93 F150 radius arm replacement
I have a 93 f150 4X4 and I would like to repace the radius arms and am wondering if the ball joints need to be removed to get at the bolt attaching the radius arm to the front axle?
any help pertaining to this subject would be much appreciated!

No, you don't have to remove the ball joints to replace the radius arms. You need to remove the coil spring and the stud at the bottom of the coil spring seat and then the bolt that holds the radius arm in place from under the front axle. Also the nut on the rear of the radius arm at the bracket. I believe they are all inch and an eighth. When I replaced my radius arms I needed to heat up the stud to get it loose, but after that it was very easy.

if you grind the rivets that hold the rear bracket on, it is about ten times easier. then drill the holes in the bracket and the frame to 1/2" and use 1-1/2" grade 8 bolts.this will give you enough room to put on a lock nut and regular nut. make sure you have a jack stand under the frame of the truck, as well as under the radius arm. use your floor jack to support the axle. if you do it this way you do not have to have it aligned when you are done. any questions, e-mail me at josh@thetoolhouse.com.
