There is some oil on the intake pipes coming around the clamps. The turbo is pretty oily also.
Clean up the engine compartment and keep an eye on things that can leak.
You might as well clean up the "Valley of Death" too. That's were all the oil winds up.
You can use soapy water to check the boots ect for leaks. It's best to remove the
serpentine belt so the air flow from the fan doesn't interfere with your test.
Have some one rev the engine to build boost.
Hello everybody I drove it into work this morning. When I got to a good straight stretch I took it out of overdrive and put my foot out on the front bumper at approximately 3000 rpm I was making about 13psi of boost at roughly 65 mph. When I put it back in overdrive it fell back to about 8psi under heavy pedal. I'll clean it up this weekend and take the intake pipes and such off to check out the turbo and fittings. Is there any kind of high temp sealant to put on the boost gauge fittings? I'm not sure if you normally use any or not. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
with stock injectors my boost dropped off bad as soon as it shifted (go from 15 to 2-3* almost immediatly). Did you stay in it very long after shifting into OD? I have to be close to 80 before the boost would come back in OD. 13 doesn't sound bad for an IC w no chip but you have the banks chip right?
Nope no chip. Just trying the 10k resistor mod and the 6637 diy filter. I stayed in the throttle for about 10 seconds but let off to turn into work. Thanks for the reply.
Yea thats a good amount of boost. I would like to get a programmer for mine but want to make sure the engine is good and sound before I crank it up. I have another post in the transmission section. I have the early lockup problem with the e40d. I heard a programmer would adjust the shift points to cure that up. I have been looking at a used superchips one. Their website claims it will do that. Then I'll be ready run the crap out of it! LOL
unless you get a programer for a real steal go with a chip. You can have it burnt to your liking and can change between settings with the flip of a switch. With the superchip you have to stop and download the new program if you want to switch
with mods a i see 30 scared to take it any further without head studs
The general consensus is that you wont pop a gasket with twos...
If you keep it under 40 you should be fine... some guys run 40 or so on a regular basis with twos and do so for a few years at a time...
However, if you pop a gasket, it's not my fault, i'm just relaying info...
Cool i'll check those chips out then too. I think i'm gonna try the manual switch to lock and unlock the torque converter and see if its gonna be a pain to switch it on and off.
