To Spring or not to Spring?

I am thinking about keeping my straight axle ....still thinking but was wondering if anyone has used any of the springs mid fifty offers? mono leaf? or should i just reuse what i got? I am on a really tight budget plus i really would like to see much truck on the road a little faster. Also if I do stock rebuild are there any part names that may be bogus or defective?

I just did all my springs on 51 F 1 Panel. I found a decent set of rear used on another forum that came up on a Google search. By the time I paid shipping (rear shock post included in the ship ) I wasnt that far from the cost of a new set. I was tipped to J C Whitney by FTE member BacaGrizz for the NEW front springs. They were the cheepest around, made in the USA, and Whitney usually has a PROMOTIONAL free shipping offer that is decent. They also had the bushings included and pressed in which cost me $15 to have done on my rears at the local machine shop.Bushings are like $6 each. I first tried our local spring shop to see if they could RE-ARCH my old ones back to shape but the guy was an as%^&@# of the highest order. Maybe you got a decent spring shop in you neck of the woods. I hear they exist.

$ 50 for the shackle pin kit at Dennis Carpenter.... and others got em. I understand its un-cool to re-use the U bolts. .....something to do with how the threads are made on them. U bolts are like $6 each.... cheap piece of mind. Lots of torque needed on new U bolts to meet specs.......125lbs +/-. Did you come across little wedges ( castor wedges ) between spring and axel? Mine were cracked..
